Purpose:
As the landscape of higher education continues to evolve, it is imperative that we adapt our teaching methods to meet the unique needs of our disciplines and students in the health sciences. Large classrooms, while presenting challenges, offer significant opportunities for innovative and impactful teaching.
By exploring and implementing effective pedagogies, we can create dynamic and inclusive learning environments that inspire students to reach their full potential. This session aimed to:
Analyse the South African context: Understanding the specific challenges and opportunities within the South African higher education context is crucial to inform our teaching strategies.
Interrogate effective strategies: Different pedagogical approaches that can be successfully implemented in large classrooms, drawing from both existing practices and innovative techniques were discussed.
The Roundtable fostered active participation that encouraged open dialogue, an opportunity for sharing experiences, and asking questions, where we could reflect on and explore ways to refine our teaching practices. The aim of the r
Roundtable was to stimulate critical thinking, inspire innovation, and ultimately enhance the quality of learning experiences for our students.
